NEWS // Primus and Maynard James Keenan Unleash Bizarre New Banger “Little Lord Fentanyl”
Get ready for a dose of the weird and wonderful: Primus have dropped their first new song in three years, and it’s a wild ride titled “Little Lord Fentanyl” — featuring none other than Maynard James Keenan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer fame.
The track oozes everything you’d expect from this surreal dream team: Les Claypool’s elastic slap bass grooves, twisted humor, and a groove-heavy underbelly that lurches like a beast in moonlight. Maynard’s haunting vocals weave through the madness, co-narrating a dark fable that’s as unsettling as it is oddly soothing.
It also marks Primus’ first recording with new drummer John Hoffman, who joined the band after winning an open audition that drew over 6,000 applicants. That’s right — this guy beat thousands to earn a spot behind the kit.
The song arrives mid-stride in the bands’ Sessanta V2.0 tour, a joint trek featuring Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. The tour wraps June 7th in Auburn, WA, but the madness doesn’t stop there — Primus will hit the road again this summer for their Onward & Upward Tour, joined by Ty Segall and MonoNeon on select dates.
As for “Little Lord Fentanyl”? It’s chaotic, catchy, and exactly as strange as you’d hope. Good luck deciphering the lyrics — aside from the title line — but maybe that’s part of the charm.

GEAR / /Darkglass Enters the Multi-FX Arena with ANAGRAM – A Neural-Ready Bass Powerhouse
Helsinki, Finland — Darkglass Electronics has made a bold entry into the multi-effects arena with the unveiling of ANAGRAM, their first-ever all-in-one bass workstation. Known for their high-end bass gear, the Finnish company is pushing boundaries with a sleek, touchscreen-powered unit that blends cutting-edge digital processing with unparalleled tone customization.
ANAGRAM isn’t just another multi-FX pedal. It boasts a hexacore DSP engine, Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) and AIDA-X integration, and over 50 onboard effects. It’s also a visual standout, with a rugged anodized aluminum chassis and a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen—putting tactile control at the heart of the player experience. Six endless rotary encoders give users precision over the vast array of tweakable parameters.
While the ANAGRAM may invite comparisons to the Neural DSP QuadCortex, it carves out its own space with one major differentiator: support for loading Neural Amp Models (NAMs), which allows bassists to access a massive online repository of meticulously captured amp and effect tones—” from analog warmth to futuristic textures.”
