BUZZ // Dream Theater Reunites with Mike Portnoy for Comeback Album Parasomnia — Unleashes 10-Minute Prog Metal Masterpiece ‘Night Terror
Dream Theater has officially announced Parasomnia, their first new album with drummer Mike Portnoy in 15 years, set to release on February 7 via InsideOut Music. Along with the album announcement, the band dropped the nearly 10-minute track ‘Night Terror,’ giving fans a thrilling taste of what’s to come.
Portnoy’s return to the band, announced last October, comes after a five-album stretch with drummer Mike Mangini. The reunion marks a significant moment for Dream Theater, as they prepare to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2025. The band will kick off their festivities with a European tour starting later this month, while North American fans can look forward to seeing them live next February and March.
Portnoy shared his excitement about rejoining his bandmates, saying,
“I’m overwhelmed with joy to be back home with my brothers! We’ve shared so much history, so many memories, and so much music over the years. As we approach our 40th anniversary, the idea of creating new music together is thrilling, and I can’t wait to hit the road again—especially for a whole new generation of fans who’ve never seen this lineup live. There’s truly no place like home!”
Parasomnia is Dream Theater’s 16th studio album and their first with Portnoy since Black Clouds and Silver Linings in 2009. Pre-orders started on October 11, and you can find more details, including tour dates, on the band’s official website.
