BUZZ // 13 Million Fans Scramble for Tickets to Arguably India's Biggest Concert Event of 2025!
Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour is set to hit India in January 2025, marking the band's highly anticipated return after nearly a decade since their 2016 performance. The ticket frenzy has already made headlines, with a staggering 13 million fans logging into BookMyShow on Sunday to try and secure their spots.
As expected, chaos ensued. The massive surge caused the ticketing platform to crash, and fans were waitlisted in the tens of thousands. A third show in Mumbai was quickly added due to overwhelming demand. Despite the excitement, frustration simmered as scalpers began reselling tickets at exorbitant prices, prompting some fans to consider attending concerts abroad.
Among the success stories was Chennai’s Ashwin Radhakrishnan, who attributed his booking success to his experience with India’s tatkal train system. Another fan, Pooja Hemalatha, managed to secure tickets after meticulous strategizing and logging into multiple devices.
BookMyShow acknowledged the massive demand and implemented a queueing system to ensure fairness, while addressing issues related to suspicious traffic. With the ticket rush complete, fans are now focused on securing transport and accommodation, as India gears up for what could be its biggest concert event in recent history.
